November 18- Wednesday Seminar- ch 5-7 Group  Powerpoint due (6slides/pg hardcopy) to turn in at the BEGINNING of class. Practice run of a Senior Project Presentation.  Senior Project NB given back in class

November 17:  Turn in Senior Project NB (follow Rubric) by 12 noon in room 512

November 16:  Pick up Graded Subproblem, proposals and letter to the judges in room 512

November 11:  Two items due in class

1.  First Completed Subproblem and    2. Revised Proposal/Graded Proposal 

November 4:  Just a reminder of the two items due in class:

1) Read your group's section in ch 5-7 in the research handbook as well as look at the powerpoints posted for your section on my wheeler teacher blog or googledocs.  You must then find and bring in a related source to enhance what you have read on your topic.  (see gold handout)

2) You must Revise the teacher graded Literary Review Paper you received yesterday and place both in a folder.

9/11  Seven Source Assignment Due by 8:15 am in Room 512.    Turn in anytime this week if you finish ahead of time.  This assignment has been extended 2 days.  Come by for help or e-mail me if you have questions.

If you do not have an Internship, you should be in class during internship and research class networking to get an internship.

9/16   Quiz #2   Chapters 2 & 4. Rough Draft of Literary Review Paper. Seven Source Assignment returned. Will receive 5 main handouts in class for the Literary Review paper: (blue, green, yellow, beige, and orange) PPt notes, scientific writing, APA citation guidelines, Rubric, and example paper.

 

9/24  Rough Draft #2 due in class. Should include APA citations, title page, reference page and the contents and scientific style should be consistent with the rubric and materials received in class on 9/16.

 

9/25  Final Literary Review Paper due by 12:00 in Room 512

9/30  Internship Picture Assignment.  Directions on back of Scientific writing (yellow) handout from 9/16.

Community Service Letter

Criteria for Letter 2009-10:

Requirement:  40 Documented Service Hours

· Must be hours earned for specific Wheeler activities or independent projects

· Hours must be documented by a Wheeler Faculty Member

· 2009 Summer hours are included (20 maximum)

· All hours must be received by APRIL 30^th 2010

· Maximum of 25 hours for one type of activity or project

Hours Not Included: Those hours devoted to: monetary or material gain, academic credit in a class, meeting or practice time for club or organization, any other letter using the same hours, and activities related to political issues. Service hours are not earned during school hours or class time

Club Membership

Students may see Mr. Clayton, Mrs. Hawes, or me before or after school.  Membership is $25 and includes a t-shirt and all lunches and refreshments during club programs and activities.

Summer Tour '10 Meeting

Sunday,  August 23rd  3 pm in the auditorium.  ImportantInformation about Costa Rica tour.  The trip will accomodate 46 participants.  Presently the trip is full and there is a waiting list.

BABYSITTING at Elementary Schools.

We had babysitting opportunities the first 2 weeks of school at Sedalia Park and Eastvalley.

Elementary Schools

"SATURDAYS for SUCCESS" program at Sedalia Park.  Wheeler students may receive documented service hours by helping teachers tutor 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders prepare for standardized tests this Spring in the areas of Reading, Mathematics, and Writing.  Come join us each Saturday beginning in September for 8 weeks.  Meet in the cafeteria.  Bring your service hours form.

 

Learning Links:  Honor students may receive documented service hours by helping tutor in Learning Links in the media center immediately after school every Tuesday and Thursday. Begins after Labor Day.  Be there by 3:30.
